Summer Prayer Notes by Lynne Hammond

July 12, 2019

Dearest Friend and Pray-er,

I don’t know if you’ve realized it yet, but this is not just an ordinary year. At the beginning of 2019, we entered a whole new spiritual season. The Lord told me to be watching for it before the year even started. Last November, He spoke to me from Isaiah 43:19 and said this about 2019:

“Behold, I will do a new thing… There will now be for you a repositioning and a relocating. It’s going to unlock new destinies for My people.”

Less than two weeks into the new year, I got my first glimpse of what He meant. It came to me one night after I’d had an extremely irritating day. Everything that day seemed to have gone wrong!

Mac and I had flown from Florida back to Minnesota; and due to flight delays, we’d gotten home several hours later than we’d planned. That messed up my schedule and caused me to miss the meetings I’d set up for that day. When we got to our house, we didn’t have any groceries, plus the heat wasn’t working right so the house was cold.

All day long I felt harassed, uncomfortable, and mad. And what’s worse, I kept talking about it. All the way through the evening, I complained about how bad everything was. Still at it when it came bedtime, I found myself getting irritated because the mattress felt too hard and started fussing about that.

Finally, Mac—who almost never corrects me—said, “Lynne, are you listening to yourself?”

That jarred me. Suddenly I became aware of how much I’d grumbled. I saw I’d been wrong, and with that realization fresh in my mind, I drifted off to sleep.

At 2:30 in the morning, I had a heavenly visitation. It began as a dream, in which I was with three or four friends. We were in a small auditorium where a move of God had broken out that was more than just what we’d call “revival.” It wasn’t just people laughing, jumping, and falling under the power of the Holy Spirit. It was an outpouring of God’s presence that was so mighty it had overtaken the whole city and was causing astonishing miracles to happen.

As we watched what was going on, one of my friends (who is normally not musical at all) began to sing in the spirit. The Lord gave her an entire song, complete with several verses and a chorus. As she sang, the rest of us began to join in. The song itself was miraculous, and while we were singing, signs and wonders were taking place the likes of which I’ve never seen.

For 3 ½ hours, the dream continued. I stayed in that heavenly place until 5:30 a.m. when Mac nudged me and said, “Are you singing?” The question awakened me, but even then it seemed I was still in the dream. I sensed the same overtaking presence of God filling the room. And I realized, in that presence I was totally unaffected by my natural surroundings.

I no longer noticed it was cold in the room. The hardness of the mattress didn’t bother me at all. Swallowed up in this place with God, the things that had been so harassing before seemed nonexistent.

Remember how the old hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus,” says that the things of earth grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace? That’s what happened. My awareness of earth faded, and I was in perfect sync with heaven.

It was wonderful! I’ve been walking with the Lord for over 40 years, and I’ve never experienced anything quite like it. Just as the Lord said to me back in November, I was repositioned and relocated. I was truly in a whole new spiritual dimension with Him.

Accessing the Realms of the Spirit

Decades ago, my father in the faith, Brother Kenneth E. Hagin, used to say there are higher dimensions of the Spirit the Church must move into before the coming of the Lord. And I believe this is our year for it! I believe that in 2019, through fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we’ll access those higher dimensions.

As we do, especially where prayer is concerned, we’ll be better equipped to deal with the things the Devil is throwing at us these days. We’ll also experience to a greater degree the fulfillment of the prophetic words recorded in Acts 2:

It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath… (vv. 17–19 KJV)

What do those verses have to do with believers moving into new spiritual dimensions? you might wonder.

A lot! We can see that by reading the rest of the book of Acts! It shows us what this great end-time outpouring of God’s Spirit is supposed to look like, and its filled with examples of believers who accessed the spiritual realm.

Take what happened to Peter in Acts 12, for instance. He had an experience in the realm of the spirit that literally saved his life. You remember the story. He’d been locked up and sentenced to die for preaching the Gospel. The Church had been praying for him, and the night before he was to die, he was sleeping, chained up between two soldiers—

And suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared [standing beside him], and a light shone in the place where he was. And the angel gently smote Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, Get up quickly! And the chains fell off his hands. And the angel said to him, Tighten your belt and bind on your sandals. And he did so. And he said to him, Wrap your outer garment around you and follow me. And [Peter] went out [along] following him, and he was not conscious that what was apparently being done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. (vv. 7–9, Amp.)

Talk about moving into a new dimension! In that instance, Peter found himself so caught up in the spirit he wasn’t sure what was happening. He could see the angel leading him and prison doors swinging open, but he was so unaware of this natural realm, he didn’t even know if what he was seeing was physically real.

It was only after he followed the angel past the two guards that stood at the prison gates and stepped onto the city street that it dawned on Peter he was actually free. “Now I really know and am sure that the Lord has sent His angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting [to do to me],” he said (v. 11). And he went to the house where the church was praying.

In Acts 7, Stephen had a similar experience when he was being stoned for preaching the Gospel. Right in the midst of what should have been a horrible moment, he moved into another dimension. He stopped noticing the stones that were hitting him because he was caught up into another place.

“Being full of the Holy Ghost, [he] looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, and said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God” (vv. 55–56 NKJV).

In Acts 16, when Paul and Silas were persecuted for preaching the Gospel, they too moved over into the realm of the spirit. Sitting in prison after being beaten and locked up in stocks, they accessed the atmosphere of heaven to such a degree that instead of crying out in pain, they prayed and loudly sang praises unto God.

As they did, heaven absolutely invaded that place! “Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed” (Acts 16:26 KJV).

When the Unseen Swallows Up the Seen

If you’ve ever read Foxe’s Book of the Martyrs, you know that persecuted Christians down through the ages often had such experiences. Many who went through the most torturous ordeals (like being burned at the stake) entered into a spiritual dimension that enabled them to be unaffected by the pain. The grace of God came on them and caused the seen realm to be swallowed up by the unseen. Heaven came down, eclipsed their situation, and they went to meet Jesus, singing and rejoicing.

In the Old Testament, we see Enoch experienced that heavenly dimension. He walked with God in the realm of the spirit until he got so far over there that “he was not; for God took him” (Genesis 5:24). Enoch’s grandson, Noah, walked with God in the spirit too. He not only heard from God about the flood and received instructions about building the ark, he became so aware of the spirit realm that he was able to set aside the normal demands of life and work on that ark for 120 years.

That’s the kind of spiritual awareness we need to have these days in prayer! And I believe this year we’re moving into it. I’m already hearing the reports. A friend of mine in France told me recently she was in a prayer meeting where, all at once, everybody in the room was engulfed by a shining, white cloud. Everyone there saw it because they were all in the same spiritual place.

They didn’t know if fog had come in or what had happened. They just knew the presence of God was so strong in that place, nobody there could move. They were almost paralyzed by the glory of God that was manifesting in that dimension.

The new thing God is doing this year will open the door for more of those kinds of things to happen. It will help lift us into the place Brother Philip Halverson used to talk to me about years ago when he and his wife were mentoring me in prayer. He spoke to me often about realms of the spirit we can walk in where we can operate with greater authority. Dimensions where we’re aware that angels are attending us, doing whatever we said.

He’d draw my attention time and again to Zechariah 3:7: “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘If you will walk in My ways and keep My charge, then also you shall rule My house and have charge of My courts, and I will give you access [to My presence] and places to walk among these who stand here’” (Amp.). Putting that verse in his own words, Brother Halverson even wrote in the front of my Bible: Thus says the Lord, If you will live the way I tell you and remain obedient in My service, then you will make the decisions around here and you will run My affairs and all My attendants will go with you.

Not Just New… Neuf!

That’s a place of promotion! It’s a place in the spirit where we walk and work in the sphere of heaven even while we’re still on the earth, and in 2019 God is promoting us into that place. He’s giving us fresh supplies of grace that will enable us to access the new dimensions we must walk in to complete our prayer assignments in this hour.

In talking about this at the beginning of the year with my friend from France, she told me that 2019 in French is “Twenty nine ten.” The number nine is the word neuf and it means new. Not just new as in something different. New as in something you’ve never experienced at all before. Something that until you encountered it was beyond what you could imagine.

That’s what we’re coming into this year! We’re moving into a neuf spiritual dimension. We’re passing into uncharted territory in much the same way the Israelites did when they passed through the Jordan River into the Promised Land.

Think about what that was like for them. They’d never lived in a place like Canaan. They just knew God had promised it to them. For 40 years, they’d wandered in the wilderness holding onto that promise, but now they were actually going to see it. The promise God had given them was about to be translated into life.

Since this whole experience was new to them, their leader, Joshua, prepared them to cross over into it by giving them these instructions. As they stood on the banks of the Jordan, he said to them:

When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God being borne by the Levitical priests, set out from where you are and follow it. Yet a space must be kept between you and it, about 2,000 cubits by measure; come not near it, that you may [be able to see the ark and] know the way you must go, for you have not passed this way before. (Joshua 3:3–4 Amp.)

The Lord has been saying to me that we as believers and pray-ers today haven’t passed this way before either. So just like the Israelites, we must watch for God’s presence to show us which way to go. When He takes us into a new spiritual dimension, as He did me in that January visitation, whatever it ministers to us we’re to follow it.

At the Jordan, when the Israelites followed God’s presence in the ark, an astounding miracle happened. The rushing waters of the river (which at that time of year are like white-water rapids) rolled back and didn’t leave so much as a mudpuddle behind. The waters stood up in a heap as high as a tower, and the Israelites passed through on dry ground to a place called Gilgal, which means the defeat of your enemies.

Remember how Hebrews 10:12–13 says that Jesus, after He ascended to the right hand of the Father, sat down to wait for His enemies to be put under His feet? That’s where we are now, and I believe we’re to recognize it. We’re to be expecting to see the Devil defeated at every turn and to see miracles, signs, and wonders to manifest on an unprecedented level. We’re to be expecting all the promises we’ve been standing on to be fulfilled this year and be translated into life for us.

Dear praying friend, start looking for it! Start saying, “I’m a candidate for this. I’m looking to move into new spiritual dimensions, to see the power of God on display as never before, and to walk in the sphere of heaven even while I’m still on this earth!”

The time is now. This has got to happen. So believe it. Be bold to follow the Holy Spirit. And until I write again, keep praying… and be sure to remember that—
