Everywhere you look, you will find patterns. Patterns shape our lives and carry the power to produce something positive or negative depending upon the nature of the pattern. Consider how a consistent pattern of exercise will result in a healthier body; a pattern of eating junk food will lead to health problems.

God Himself works in patterns. There is a biblical pattern for healthy relationships, financial increase, parenting, and the realization of God’s plan for your life.

Choose Faith as Your Pattern

Romans 12:2 states, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (NIV)

It’s easy to fall prey to the pattern of this world and wonder why things aren’t working out the way we thought; however, God calls us to intentionally embrace the pattern of faith found in His Word. He wants it to become an ingrained part of our lives because faith is what releases His divine power and leads to freedom, change, and a truly blessed life!

Be Consistent

As you pursue the pattern of faith, you will encounter resistance. The enemy will put pressure on what you believe in an attempt to get you to move your belief system away from God’s Word. As you endeavor to be consistent in the pattern of faith, in time, you will arrive at a place that James talks about: perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Take a look at this:

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

Two things have to happen for you to “want nothing”: wrong desires are changed and right desires are fulfilled. You can reach that place as you identify, follow, and put into action God’s perfect pattern for faith.
